  • In my opinion, this is the best tool available for forecasting waves. Once you learn how to read these charts, you will be able to see the forecast for wind speed, wind direction, swell size, swell direction, and swell period  for the current day and three days out.
Note: Check the dates on the maps carefully, it's not uncommon for these charts to be out of date by a day or two occasionally

  • These links will take you to maps on which you can view the current (updated hourly) and past 24 hours or so of weather data for selected buoys.  Most or all of the buoys report wind conditions, and about half report swell conditions.  There are even a few that report swell direction. Get used to checking these, and take note of what conditions make your favorite spot Go Off!. These are one of the best tools for current conditions, and short range(6 to 12 hours) forecasting.

    WXP/MRF SURFace Maps
